16 DAYS
ACTIVISM ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE 2009
As part of activity of celebrating the 16days
activism on violence against women and the Girl-child. Ajegunle
Community Project (ACP) decided to celebrate its own story by using
the youth in secondary schools to organize “Girls Talk Back”.
It is a true life story of victims of Gender
Based Violence and Discrimination of the Girl-child in our society.
It is an intervention programme by Ajegunle Community Project using
Cultural-Based Choreo-Musical Performance through a Stage Drama,
Dance, Chant and Mime to sensitize the Girls-child to speak openly
about violence and abuses that they have experienced, witnessed,
feared or fought with the sole aim of creating a better
understanding between the Girls –child and the society.
It also allows for the opportunity to discuss
problems and experience of abuse and violence. Through the project,
we were able to raise public awareness on the issues of Violence
Against Women and Girls. It also created a tool for advocacy, and
served as a platform to lobby for zero tolerance on all forms of
violence.
