MTN/ ACP
Fights Malaria with 1 Million Mosquito Nets 21 May 2010
Malaria continues to pose serious threat to
the world, efforts by the World Health Organization and
various nations to control the menace seems not enough.
The need for support from the private sector becomes
inevitable. It was in realization of these facts, and in
line with its tradition of giving back to the society that
MTN Nigeria in partnership with AJEGUNLE COMMUNITY PROJECT (ACP)
rounded off its 21 Days of Y'ello Care at Amukoko Community
Hall Ajegunle.
The 2010 edition of MTN Roll Back activities is targeted at
two major areas: malaria and education tagged "United
Against Malaria and 1 Goal: Education for All".
The 21 days programme, ensured MTN rolling out a "Kick Out
Malaria" campaign to reach its consumers in Ajegunle and
various operating communities with 1 million mosquito nets
via the 2010 Y'ello Care platform and other corporate social
responsibilities.

DONATION TO AREA
B COMMAND APAPA
The issue of gender-based violence in our
communities should be of great concern to all and sundry
especially the stakeholders. And to achieve a sustainable
development and growth among the comity of nations in line
with the United Nation Millennium Development Goal (MDG),
efforts must be geared toward the eradication of
inequalities among women and the girl child.
As an organization that has zero tolerance for any form of
violence against women and the girl child, Ajegunle
Community Project two years back organized a training
programme for Help Agencies like the Police, Health workers,
Customary Courts, and local government officials etc. The
aims and objectives of the training programme include among
others: to serve as a link for information gathering, to
work together in fighting gender-based violence against
women and the girl child and; to equip them (help agencies)
with skills of documentation of gender-based violence cases.
The outcome of the training programme and the group
discussions was the need to establish a “Women Desk” in our
police stations. And as part of its social responsibilities
and efforts to reduce the social inequalities among women,
Ajegunle Community Project decided to provide working tools
for the policemen who will work in the women desk of each
police station. Hence, the need to provide the women desks
with chairs, tables and logbooks (case recording book). This
gesture we believe will go a long way in ensuring proper
documentation of gender-based violence cases in our police
stations with a view of determining how to address them
properly.
This report showcases the happenings at the event during the
donation of chairs; tables and logbooks to police stations
under Area “B” Police Command, Apapa-Lagos.
